The mirror of Russian rulers from 862 to 1789

For researchers of Russian history and connoisseurs of rare editions in the near future, 2 very rare books were published in the Prehistory library at once - the Big Sovereign Book (1672 edition) and The Mirror of Russian tsars from 862 to 1789 (1789 edition). These books in digitized form are not familiar to researchers. These specimens are stored in a closed department of the St. Petersburg Library of the Russian Academy of Sciences. The full title of this publication is: “The mirror of Russian rulers from 862 to 1789, depicting their genealogy, alliances, offspring, time of birth, reign, death, and briefly the deeds of memorable events. The author of this rare publication is a full member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, TS. Malygin, one of the most prolific encyclopedic scholars of the 2nd half of the 18th century. The second book has the full title - "The Great Sovereigns of the Book of Karen of the Russian Sovereigns. Titles and portraits of the Russian tsars and grand dukes from Rurik to Alexei Tishayshy". The edition of 1672 and in fact is an excellent illustration and the basis of the work of Malygin. Why is the book closed? Maybe because studying the materials you can see that Vasily Shuisky was not Rurik´s descendant in a straight royal line, therefore the last Rurikovich on the throne is certainly considered the son of Ivan the Terrible - Fyodor Ivanovich. But the most important thing - the Rurik family was not interrupted. The clans of the Chernigov princes are descended from the three sons of Mikhail Vsevolodovich (the great-great-grandson of Oleg Svyatoslavich) - Semyon, Yuri, Mstislav. Glukhov Prince Semyon Mikhailovich became the ancestor of the princes Vorotynsky, Odoevsky. Prince of Tarusa Yuri Mikhailovich - Mezecky, Baryatinsky, Obolensky. Karachayevsky Mstislav Mikhailovich- Mosalsky, Zvenigorod. Of the princes Obolensky, a number of princely clans emerged later, among them the most famous are the Shcherbatovs, Repnins, Serebryannye, Dolgorukovs. These documents are still waiting for additional research.
