Taking control of a small clan, you will learn how to survive, raise cattle, harvest crops and withstand the merciless winter. A thriving inn, a rich trading center or just a cozy family estate — the future of this empty piece of land and all its inhabitants depends on you. FAMILY LEGACY Write the history of your family that is several generations long. Start from scratch and leave behind an immortal legacy. Create your own clan or lead one of the ready-made ones and help a family of several generations survive in the harsh Scottish highlands. Your family members will marry, have children, grow old and eventually die, leaving the results of their labors to new generations. Make a schedule and make sure that the settlers have a good rest, eat and have fun, but remember that winter is near and you cannot survive it without preparation. Morning routine, socializing and relaxation will dilute a day of hard work: working in the field, fishing, hunting, construction and cooking. Each settler has their own character traits, aspirations, dreams and skills that will help them choose the right occupation for them. They take care of themselves and their fellow tribesmen and gain experience every day. The elders look after the younger ones, teach them to hunt, cook, clean, build, take care of the land — in short, they pass on to the future generation all the skills necessary for survival. THE CHANGE OF SEASONS will inevitably be followed by chilly autumn nights, severe winter cold and, finally, a spring thaw. Plan ahead and adapt to the changing seasons if you hope to survive. Every season brings new challenges and opportunities: pick berries, catch eels, hunt rabbits or look for mushrooms — use everything that medieval life gives. The condition of the soil is constantly changing, and crop growth is influenced by many factors. Cultivate fields, apply slash-and-burn farming techniques, and train settlers in the art of growing crops to provide the clan with food. Nature constantly throws up new challenges. Animals, property and the settlers themselves need shelter from rain and frost. Leave a full jug in the cold, and the water will freeze, and to melt the ice, you will have to hold the jug by the fire. Soaked food spoils faster, but wet things burn worse. Pets will not survive without a roof over their heads, and people will freeze if they are not dressed for the weather. A PLACE WORTHY OF BEING CALLED HOME Turn the bare earth into a place worthy of being called home. Pass on the knowledge of survival from generation to generation. Each collected twig, each felled tree opens up new ideas and technologies that improve the life of the clan. Unlock new materials and craft tools. Today you sleep on solid ground under a starry sky, and tomorrow you sleep in a huge estate with all the amenities. Technological development is progressive. Everyday work pushes your wards to new ideas and discoveries. Before doing pottery, making bricks and tiles, you will have to find clay.
